After my initial involvement working on the pitch for the show, I was drafted by Daley Pearson and Ludo Studio to bring my skills to the commissioned ABC2 series.
#7 Days Later was an experimental interactive comedy series where the story, characters and dialogue were gathered from the audience (Google Hangouts, Triple J, Facebook & Twitter) annealed into a script, rehearsed, shot, post-produced and broadcast all within the span of just 7 days.
I was responsible for all visual effects across the 6 episodes, from story development, acquisition of elements on set, through to final render. In most cases all vfx shots had to be processed and reinserted into the edit within one night - which meant careful planning each week.
Hand-in-hand with the VFX I was able to run 2nd Unit camera where schedule and story demanded. I was also responsible for supervising all post-production, from workflow planning prior to shoot, last minute alterations to the edit, through to final delivery for broadcast.
The best part was being around our creative team from go to woe, helping to stir the story pot, and collaborating on story and structure at the beginning of each week.
